Need Life Raft! Kubuntu or Ubuntu / X86 or X86-64

Hi
I'm just wondering which Ubuntu to use on my PC's

Since Ubuntu/Gnome is the main branch

Is Kubuntu as well Polished or just a half baked patch job?

I have been really loving using X86-64 distros for their network and Memory speed compared to same 32bit version,
however Suse and Mandriva had noteable bugs issues (fast clock, conflicting package issues) .

I love KDE , havent used Gnome much at all

How well do the x8-64 Ubuntu family run?

I use 64 bit Kubuntu.

Kubuntu is not just a "patch-job" - I find that it is just as polished as Ubuntu.

64 bit works fine - I have had no problems with it so far.

I hope this helps

Kubuntu is an official project of ubuntu, it uses the same core and it, IMO, an excellent distro

Kubuntu is the first Ubuntu derived distribution. Our Kubuntu CDs are made up of Ubuntu's base plus KDE. You can get exactly the same effect by installing Ubuntu and adding the KDE packages (and removing the Gnome packages) from the Ubuntu archives.

Is this a fork of Ubuntu?

No, it is an official part of Ubuntu. All our packages are in the same archives.

Of course, (unfortunately) bugs do occur, but the official distributions (currently: Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu) are extremely well organized (and, I think I can say that, something like rock-stable). As already mentioned, KDE is integrated, officially.

conflicting package issues
That's a rare issue with APT-based software managers.

As for 64, I can't tell. Sparely, conflicts have been reported.
