Need help with making a custom version of ubuntu..

As you may know, I have been trying to make my netbook faster. Many of the suggestions were to use Xfce, but I wanted to keep Unity, so I got to work. I thought if I made my own distro based on another distro I could use that.

I was wondering how I should go about building it on Ubuntu. I was wondering how I would go about this. I was thinking about on my desktop installing minimal ubuntu and building onto it, but how would I turn this into a .iso. I heard about remastersys, but when I add the repository it errors.

Any ideas?

Yes, post the errors and the commands you used, so that we actually have a chance to help you.

Ah, sorry, I forgot about that.

Nevermind, I found that I entered the command wrong. Just got it to work again by adding a /.

Oh, and if anyone else has problems with this, the commands I used were:

sudo echo "deb http://www.geekconnection.org/remastersys/repository karmic/" | sudo tee -a /etc/apt/sources.list.d /remastersys.list

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install remastersys
