Need help setting up WEP

For some reason I can't seem to configure WEP in Ubuntu. It works fine on my work laptop, i.e. WinTel (WinXP). Does anyone have any tips? I saw in another forum that I should set the router to Open from Shared, but I can't seem to find that option in the router menu. I have a Linksys WRT54G which is a pretty popular model. And I can't find that setting in Ubuntu. Any help would be appreciated.

HI! thats the exact model that i have. You should not have to mess with your routers settings. When you installed your router, you set it up with a WEP key on the routers security page correct? Then it is set.

Have you went into Ubuntu's System>Administration>Networking and entered your network name, key type, and WEP key? Highlite your Wireless Connection, and click on properties.

That's exactly what I did and it doesn't work. I also have a laptop that I recently loaded with Ubuntu and have the same problem.

Weird man! Mine is working flawlessly!

My antenna is a wusb11 ver. 2.6 wireless-B.

After you boot into Ubuntu, try disconnecting your antenna/card for about 10 seconds. Then connect it again.
