Heres the readme file:

[B]Install instructions

-------------------------------------

Copy the 'LogonUI.exe' to the folder:

%windir%\Resources\LogonUI\evil-elf\

- if the folder doesn't exist, create it

Then run the 'Register_LogonUI.reg' - that's it.

To restore the default login, run 'Restore_logon.reg'

---------------------------------------

Wallpapers & Etc

Not sure that I understand this though!

I guess I'll go and look for, %windir%\Resources\LogonUI\evil-elf\ in my file system.

I'd almost swear that that looks like a windows folder!

Yeah...

I know about gnomelook, and I,ve already installed a bunch of themes.

But NOW I want to change/customize my log in screen, and I have no idea how it's done!

I've been looking for a 'How-to' for ubuntu but cant find one as of yet!

Sorry...

but the link: http://art.gnome.org/faq.php does not explain how to install a 'tar.gz file'.

I'll look around at gnomelook.org and see if I can find a tutorial.

Thanks!

Look where your other boot themes are stored on your system and see if it gives you an idea. Often a bootsplash is simply a graphic image placed in a certain folder with a info file. GDM is usually pretty simple when it comes to changing stuff like that.

did you try this?
Quote:
How do I install Login Manager themes?
To install a Login Manager theme, you must be the root user. As root, run gdmsetup. Under the "Graphical greeter" tab, click the "Install new theme" button. Navigate to the location you downloaded the theme to, select it, and click "Install". It will appear in the list of themes on the left.
