Need help buying a printer for computer running ubuntu

Hello,
I cant describe how pleased I am to have switched from SUSE linux to Ubuntu. I want to buy a printer for my computer and I know from experience that not all printers can be bought and expect them to work out of the box with linux.

I have heard that HP multifunction work quite well with Ubuntu linux, I have Ubuntu Feisty Fawn installed and would like to know if I can go the store and just randomly buy any HP multifunction device (PSC or officejet) and expect it to work?

Any one have any recommendantions?

Take a Knoppix live CD with you and see if they'll let you print out a test page...

I haven't used any multifunction printers yet. But my old reliable Deskjet 712C works great.

My HP PSC 1410 works great for all functions. I also have a HP Photosmart A516 for 4x6 prints. Both were detected and set up easily. In Ubuntu 7.04 the HP Toolbox is wonderful. It even reports ink levels.
