Native VPN support in 10.04

Hello all,

I've noticed that in Ubuntu 10.04 we have native support for OpenVPN connections. Everything works just fine, but I would like to have one possibility. The fact is that my client.key file has permissions 400 and owner is root. I can't configure VPN connection via integrated native support of VPN. I can't access my key file.
So is it possible to run integrated VPN support as root ? I would like to be able to set certificates which are readable only for root and when done configuring and try to connect I would like to have root password dialog box to continue. Is it possible ?
