My very, very weird install and livecd problem.
Hello, I have some ubuntu 5.04 cds i ordered from shipit.ubuntu.com, and I have a gnoppix cd (ubuntu-based livecd)
My very weird problem is.
When I use the install cd, I get to the second part of the installation, then it just completely freezes, forcing me to reset my pc, and after that, the bootloader is there, but ubuntu won't boot, it gives me a kernel panic.
This is incredibly weird, and it happens to me every time I try ubuntu, I go into the Windows installation from grub, and that crashes and automatically reboots, then every other time after that it boots ok.
And the livecd gets me into the graphical environment, but for no reason, after about 15 seconds in graphical, the whole system crashes, and when trying to boot WinXP it crashes once, then works after that.
The GNOPPIX ubuntu linux livecd does the exact same thing as the ubuntu one.
------
I am having some harsh trouble figuring why, I can not understand why it always crashes my windows once to.
(This happens on the x86, and the AMD64 Version)
My Hardware:
Gigabyte ga-k8ns pro Socket 754 motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 2800+ socket 754 processor
768 mb pc3200 ddr ram
120 gb maxtor ide 7200 rpm hdd
------
Any solutions? This is the most awkward situation I've ran into in a linux distribution, every other distribution I tried has worked. Including (Debian, Mepis, Gentoo, Slackware)
This is the only one I'm having trouble with.
