My install of Ubuntu 7.04 doesn't wake up from hibernation or suspend mode

Hi,
Ubuntu 7.04 runs on my laptop. I have configured it to run compiz (nothing much to configure though) when I select xgl desktop.
My problem is when I select 'suspend' mode the laptop promptly goes to sleep but doesn't wake up no matter what I do. So I am left with no other alternative but to reboot.
My system is - AMD Turion 64 laptop, with 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 card and 120 GB HDD.
Do you think that problem may be due to less than 1 GB RAM? Or there could be any other reason?

It can't be RAM, I'm using a laptop with 512M RAM and it's suspending/hibernating just nicely, no problems (with Ubuntu 7.04 too).

Maybe it's up to acpi?

Won't wake up

How are you trying to wake it up? With my Feisty and my Dell 2350 the keyboard or mouse will not wake machine from S3 suspend. I must use a short press of the power switch (don't hold button just a quick press). Even then with the Feisty defaults the wake up process can be unreliable at times. Found S2Ram program and suspend/wake work perfectly but still must use power button for wake up.

Hi,
When I enter suspend mode the screen goes blank but the power button light remains green. No amount of coaxing or cajoling seems to wake up my beauty. I have to forcefully shut it down by keeping the power button pressed for some time.

Waking from suspend

My best advice is to check if you havn't already to see that all is well in the machine's cmos setup settings. My Dell 2350 has choices of S1 or S3 or none. I picked S3 because I wanted all fan and disks to power down. I found all I needed to know at http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram by Googleing S2Ram. Good luck.
