hello all, i have a bit of a problem with my fresh ubuntu install. it cannot open mp3's or avi's, mpg's etc... why is this? do i have to download smthing? what?
Well you need to install the codecs and you did not specify a player. The link below will present a guide for both Brezzy and Dapper. You might want to look at the automatix script or prgram regarding the installation of packages. (It makes life a lot easier.)
Like the person before me said. Try to install Automatix. You can install the codecs manually using synaptic, but there are many other advantages automatix has. It gives you the codecs to play movie and music bitrates, and it also gives you the codecs to play dvd's on your computer.
