Monitor refresh rate and resolution

Hello
My current resolution is 1280x1024 and refresh rate is 51 hz. I tried using the gui app to change but it doesn't allow it. I have a GeForce 400 MX/MX 400, and I've installed the NVIDIA drivers. Is there a way I can get a higher refresh rate? My monitor (SONY CPD-e200)is capable of up to 120 hz.

Thanks

Dan

'Tis a CRT indeed, and a quite nice one too.

You want:

sudo gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf

But beware - the highest refresh/sync rates will not support the highest resolutions.
75Hz supports the 1280x1024 you want - but best use the ranges from your manual.
