Missing Java JRE Plugin For Firefox
Guys - I am required to do some online training that is wanting the Java JRE plugin for my browser however I am unable to get this working on my new 7.04 Ubuntu install. I installed "sun-java6-jre" , sun-java6-bin , & sun-java6-fonts on my machine but I can't find the "sun-java6-plugin" file so I can view Java plug ins on Mozilla Firefox.
Does anyone know how to fix this? |
i always recommend and use the JRE from the Sun site. go here--the one you want is the fourth one 'Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u1'. their installation instructions for 32-bit can be found here. just follow their instructions exactly. i would also suggest to uninstall any other java runtime you installed.
hope it helps. |
I have the JRE installed however I appears there is no Java-Plugin for my Firefox browser on a 64 bit OS.

did you uninstall the previous one and install the one from Sun's site? also you should probably install the 32-bit one from Sun. it gives you directions to setup for firefox, which worked for me.
