Manual Install

I have been having problems with the installation version of Ubuntu working for me. If I run the LiveCD, it works fine. My sound card works, my touchpad works, and my ethernet card works. However, once I install it, all three of these devices stop working. Now, I did a dmesg while booted into the Hard Drive, and when booted into the liveCD, and the difference is that the liveCD actually loads the IRQs for this hardware. However, that does not get translated over for the Hard Drive install.

So my question is this: How do I install Ubuntu so that it runs as it does when the liveCD is loaded? I was told to try a manual install, but I would have no idea how to do that. Any ideas? Thanks.

Maybe they meant the Alternat Install CD, found here:
Boot the system with the "irqpoll' kernel parameter

Also, I found something regarding your IRQ issue. It said to boot the system with the "irqpoll' kernel parameter . So that would mean to hit escape when grub starts to boot and edit the kernel line and add irqpoll parameter.

I am sorry that it took me so long to reply, but I have been sick, and it has not been fun. I was able to get everything working properly in Ubuntu. And it was through that Alternate Install CD. Everything loads how it is supposed to and everything works perfectly now. The only thing that doesn't work right now, is booting into Slackware. But I can resolve that by just reinstalling Lilo. Thank you for the assistance.
