Making wireless work on laptop

I am using the lates Ubuntu CD-Live. It boots up ok and when I to Network I see eth1 as wireless. I go into properties and set it DHCP. The connection I am interested in is unsecure.

How do I get it to connect and get an IP address? I start Firefox but it doesnt see anything. I tried ifup but that doesnt seem to work.

In Windows XP the built in wireless gets recognized without a problem. I have an Compaq presario.

Thanks

Hopefully, you have some documentation that tells what the exact wireless chipset is. If not What is the exact model of Presario ... From the internet, we should be able to see what kind of wireless it has.

Intel Wireless 2200BG Adapter.

I think I need this.

http colon // ipw2200 dot sourceforge dot net (cant post full url until i make five posts? dont know why this restriction)

I have to figure out how to install it with CD Live. It looks complicated looking at the README. Does Live build save configuration files on the local HD? What is the folder called?

Thanks
