Lubuntu - Editing main menu

Since I use Ubuntu on my PC and Lubuntu on my old laptop, I have configured Lubuntu to look as similar as possible to Ubuntu on my PC.

The one remaining thing is to have something similar to my three Ubuntu pulldown menus (Applications, Places, System) at the top left. I've found four .menu files, I don't know why there are four, and I'm not sure whether Lubuntu would be able to put three menus on the panel even if I managed to split the appropriate one of the menu files into three.

Hello,

So what exactly is your question? What you said so far partially confuses me; Are you trying to directly edit the menus? You can do that by right clicking on them and then clicking on edit.

Cheers,

Josh

I was hoping that I could separate the contents of the Lubuntu menu into three sets (Applications, Places, System)- like with Ubuntu, so that the menus on my laptop with Lubuntu looked similar to the menus on my PC with Lubuntu. I've now switched to Debian-Gnome2 and Debian-LXDE, but the issue is the same.

On reflection I think that although I could put the menu gadget on the panel three times, there is no way I could get each to look at a separate set of .dekstop files to get three different sets of applications. Changing the menus is laborious too. I'll just have to get used to the LXDE menus...
