ltsp client boot problem

I was able to set up ltsp in ubuntu 10.10

But as it take long time to authenticate from client [ it suddenly restarts the client], I have changed the grace time 120 t0 180 in the sshd_config file. I am not sure whether I have done any other changes. After that the client is not able to get ubuntu, i.e I think the client fails to locate the dhcp server. It tries to get the dhcp server and then exits pxe rom.

How to solve this? A complete reinstallation of ltsp?

Then how to get the original configuration files?

sunils1973 08-13-2011 08:18 PM

The problem solved. It was my network configuration error. The gateway address was
192.168.1.1 instead of 192.168.0.1

But I am still not able to authenticate ltsp client, as the authentication process goes on, it suddenly restarts (the client). Thinking of grace time is short, I changed the value of grace period from 120 to 180 still the result. It is also noted that it doesn't wait as much time as 200 s. It waits for few seconds and restarts the login box

I found the problem in other forums - but no satisfactory solution

LTSP login problem after openssh upgrade
I have an LTSP installation which was working well under hardy 8.04. Yesterday I use adept-updater to load all available upgrades which included updates to openssh. Since
performing the upgrade I've not been able to login on the
thin clients. I've run ltsp-update-sshkeys and used a third
machine to insure that users could perform an ssh login to
the server. After entering the user's id and password on
the client I get "Verifying password, please wait". After a
few minutes the prompt for a user login id reappears. I've
tried generating new keys with ssh-keygen but that didn't
help. I can find no error messages in /var/log files. I
tried to a "failsafe xterm session" on the client but that
hasn't worked wither. Anyone have any ideas?

LTSP login problem after openssh upgrade
I think an ltsp-update-sshkeys followed by ltsp-update-image are all that is necessary. The terminals use the key that has been changed for ssh.

Note that the second command is needed to integrate the new keys into the image transferred to the terminal at boot time.

But the updating of image many times did not solve may problem [ all suggests]

Once I was able to enter into the system

but next time - still the problem - I think it is with ssh

I find a similar one will it solve for ubuntu 10.10?

Hello!
I need help :(
I can't login randomly...
Sometimes If I try to log on I hear the Ubuntu-Sounds but the screen is black and I will be fall back into the logon screen...
I don't know the reason but I think It's maybe a problem with my 64-bit-server und the 32-bit-clients...
I found this solution:

sudo gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:-/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type string --set /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager metacity

But doesn't work because I can't find the files (no such file found).

My Ubuntu version: Lucid Lynx 10.04 Server

The command there is wrong, the correct one is:
sudo gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type string --set /desktop/gnome/session/required_components/windowmanager metacity

Does that work for you?
