Little pop up alerts
I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy
The desktop panel at the top produces warning messages/alerts in a thought bubble (like in windows) informing the user that updates are available or that my printer is not connected. I find this undesirable since the alert is always "on top" and it won't go away. My problem is mainly "Your printer is not connected". Yes, its turned off and although you can dismiss the message it comes back seconds later. I can't find where to turn these messages off. Is it possible? |
If you don't have a connected printer, check to see if there's something waiting in the print que. Acting on the condition will remove it. If you don't want notifaction of update, open Software Sources preferences and select the Updates tab. You can change checking for updates.

Thanks
Of course! A job in the print queue. Thanks for that. Still think you should be able to turn the messages off but this will do. Thanks for your consideration.
