Left and Right arrow not working
 

Hello,

For some reason my right and left arrows stopped working today. These are the only keys that do not work. Or at least that I'm aware of.. I didn't change anything related to the keyboard and I didn't mess with anything file wise.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Do you keep your keyboard clean?

Which keyboard (or model of laptop) do you have?

I do keep my keyboard clean.
I have a hp EliteBook 6930p

Can you check all your other keys on your keyboard to see if the problem is only affecting those 2 keys?

Are you running dual-boot at all, or can you run a live boot CD/USB, so that you can check to see if the keys work in another operating system?

Also, do you have a USB keyboard that you can plug in and try?

See if an OSK works with them at all? E.g:

Apparently delete also doesn't work...

As for the onboard keyboard, the keys work just fine

For anyone looking at this, here's a view of the keyboard. It's not too clear, but it appears that the delete key is in the far top right hand corner.

Thrift stores often have cheap usb keyboards to test if hardware but I would try a live distro to see if software is at play?(-Sorry for the lack of pun on that one. :hattip:)

Pry one of the malfunctioning keycaps off and look for dust and dirt under it. It doesn't take much to keep the key from making proper contact.

Or, test in BIOS &c?
