Laptop Screen Problem

I'm currently trying to get Kubuntu liveCD to work with everything on my Acer TM290(w/ ATI 9700), so far everything works except the sorta flaky wireless(works better in knoppix, but it's OK in kubuntu) and the screen gets blanked buring bootup where normally there's a menu asking for language selection, screen also gets blanked when shutting down/rebooting. Will this be solved when I install it to the HD? As in pass in a parameter through the bootloader and have the framebuffer at the correct resolution?

If you can correct with giving the right parameters in the boot up, the installation should be the same.

If you can print the X config files aftre the live cd has installed and everything is correct. That way, you can always go into the console and correct things.
