Unhappy Laptop battery issue

I am running Ubuntu 10.10 on my Toshiba L640, the battery is not getting detected, I am running my Laptop in AC power. We got a fix for the issue in a forum, you can check the fix by following the link: , however I am not able to set the DSDT values as well as acpi stand alone values. I am having issues while running the command "apt-get build-dep --no-install-recommends linux-image-$(uname -r)" I am getting "No such a file or Directory is found". Could anyone provide me the correct steps to fix the issue. I have been through this for 8 months.
