LAMP server and KDE - nix Noob
I'm happily running Ubuntu Server on a desktop box. I'm ready to make the total changeover from Windoze and want linux on my laptop too :) but I want to run KDE instead of just the text mode. I need all the LAMP stuff as well.
Would it be easier to install Ubuntu Server then add x-windows and kubuntu-desktop or install Kubuntu ad add/configure LAMP myself? |
Just do whichever you think is easiest for you. Either way, the outcome is going to be the same. ;)

Personally I prefer to install the lamp stack myself because it gives me more control over what is installed and how.

Thanks for your suggestion. I played around a little trying to get all the bits to talk to each other in Kubuntu. It was almost successful but had a few hiccups. Tried it the other way round, Ubuntu LAMP server first, then sudo apt-get install kubuntudesktop. Left it to do it's thing while I had a beer and that was it! How easy?!
