Hello forum,

Would you please tell me what command I can use in the terminal window of Kubuntu that will put me in the deepest level of superuser mode (pardon my choice of words if necessary). I am using sudo -su.

I am trying to install an ATI proprietary video driver but I am getting an error message that the extraction failed. I have never had this problem with this same driver when installed in other Linux distributions so I suspect the problem is because I am not "root enough", meaning I still don't have total write access to all files and directories.

Of course, I am only assuming this is the problem.

sudo -i will give you a root shell. All commands entered into it will be executed as root, until you logout of the terminal.
