Kubuntu Feisty - question about php and DB_DataObject

I'm still a newbie with PHP and related stuff. I installed php with adept, along with some other php packages, like pdp-db. The DB_DataObject package was not in the repository. I was able to install it from the command line, but I was wondering if it will play nicely with the officially "blessed" Ubuntu packages.

What criteria is used to determine what is included in the repos. I looked through the main, universe, restricted, and multiverse repos.

Just wondering. I don't want to start a development project using a not recommended combination of tools.

Thanks

I don't think it'll be a problem. I have a LAMP system on Fiesty which was set up manually be downloading and building all the sources. Everything runs fine for me.

Thanks. Are you using the DataObject class?

No, I'm actually just learning PHP and MySQL programming for a summer job I'm doing with my College. I've already read Programming PHP and now I'm reading Web Database Applications with PHP and MySQL, both from O'Reilly.
