Kubuntu eye candy packages? How to search with adept or apt-get?

Hi all,

So after my disappointment with the state of KDE4, I've returned to trusty KDE3.

Now that I've gotten it upm installed some of my apps, customized panels, etc. I want to add some more eye candy packages. I.E. different good looking KDE desktop images, icons, etc.

Question1: What are some good packages?
I already installed kde-style-lipstik

Question2: How do I search with apt-get or adept?
If I were using yum I could do something like 'yum search kde-style | more' and figure out what packages I should grab, how can I do that in a Debian world?

For good looking KDE kde-look.org is your best bet.

To search using apt do 'apt-cache search whatever_you_are_looking_for'

There is a search box in adept right at the top

I initially tried this, but it does not seem to search through everything.

putting 'kde-style' in the adept search box does not garnish the same results as 'apt-cache search kde-style'

All the same thanks for the info!

Try openSUSE 11.0.

I'm using Ubuntu + KDE4 on 2 machines - but I've just being testing a virtualised (via virtualbox) copy of SUSE prior to a friend installing it, so I can answer his questions on Yast.

SUSE has got KDE4 working. Even the widgets, sorry "plasmoids", are working. I've not used it in depth and Yast will take a bit of getting used to but if I were installing now I'd use SUSE and not Ubuntu.

As for answering your question ... I'd use synaptic.

Doh! I know I didn't answer the question: man pages are your friend!
