I have been warned off Gentoo as very difficult to install. Altho as you say it's very flexible does mostly everything right, I think I'll stick to Suse 10.0, for now.I'm learning a lot using it without the frustration level that comes configging a whole new distro. Suse installed without any glitches and I'm able to do most tasks without problems,except print to the windows network. That's a prob that'll be solved soon with a little help, I hope.
Thanks for your suggestion. I'll certainly keep Gentoo in mind as my linux knowledge base builds and my frustration level decreases.
