rebooted (stuck on windoz) and no change. I found an old thread that said to right click and edit the command to say only adept. When I did that it couldn't find the command, put it back the way it was and it opened, tried to install conky and at 4% it quit, but it tells me it is installed.

adept updater is now telling me

''
Could not commit changes
The was an error commiting changes. Possibly there was a problem downloading some packages or the commit would break packages.''

adept manager gives me the same message when I try to install anything.

Help please!

Have you tried Synaptic? I like it much better than Adept.

If you want to pursue the Adept issue, first see if it is repeatable. If it crashes, reboot and try again to see if the same thing happens.

this is not strictly an adept problem but rather a problem in the kubuntu 7.10 iso.

the only fix i found was to installl with the gnome ubuntu disk then install kubuntu-desktop from there,
