Kubuntu 7.04 hangs on startup
Hi
I was trying to boot the Kubuntu 7.04 LiveCD on an intel Core 2 Duo w/ 1G ram and an Nvidia 6600 vid card, and it hangs on "Starting HP Linux Printing and Imaging System". I tried unplugging my (Canon i960) printer's usb cable, but the same thing happens. The same disk boots fine on other machines, and a disk integrity check ran from the live cd's boot menu returns ok. I tried following the instructions from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash, but I nothing happens when I enter any keystrokes. I am at a loss. Does anybody have a suggestion? Thanks |
Go to Kubuntu's web site. There is a user forum with help for installing / using Kubuntu. All of the start-up problems I encountered when I tried it were listed with solutions except one. Running Kubuntu on a laptop will kill the system. It does not allow the fan to run to cool the system which results in overheating. Other that this, Kubuntu looks good but I downloaded and burned cd-roms to try and had several problems related to disk read errors. I think I might have had better luck if I had original disks. I have ordered them but they say it can take up to 10 weeks for the disks to arrive.
