This is my first post related to kubuntu. I tried different search criteria to find an answer, but the results were all unrelated to my question.
Anyway, the only package installed with kubuntu is a mozilla-firefox locale package. The main browser is konqueror. I like konqueror, but I love firefox. I tried searching the repositories, but only the above locale file kept coming up on the results. So I decided to download a deb package from debian.org. However, I get the strange feeling that I should not install it manually, unless otherwise recommended by you guys. I found out that the dpkg can be used to isntall packages manually so I've been doing my homework.
What do you suggest I do? Install from the sarge version deb package? Or install from source?
I uncommented the dapper main restricted lines at the top of sources.list, ran adept, refreshed repositories, voila! Wow, I'm impressed with this distribution. I'm gonna keept it.
I am fairly new to Ubuntu and I had the same problem as the original poster. I didn't quite understand what he said he did, is someone kind enough to explain to me?

Rep:
As far as I know, Firefox should be in the "main" repository in Kubuntu and not installed by default.
Have you tried to install Firefox using:
Code:
sudo aptitude install firefox
What the OP is talking about is to enable extra repositories, by opening /etc/apt/sources.list, and removing the # at the beginning of the lines referring to the "Universe" repository. This should not be needed to install Firefox though.
