I would like to try a debian-based distro and i think kubuntu is right for me: the live cd works fine

But I've two questions:

1] - Can I choose to set up Grub on a floppy instead on MBR? During the install process, obviously.. with slackware it is possible.

2] - Can I use a debian repository (which is very fast) to fully update the distro to a debian "testing" and install applications using synaptic without having problems?

I like slackware but I think synaptic is more powerfull than swaret.

By the way.. last time I used slack was about one year in the past.. now things could be changed..

ok, i am not sure about grub on a floppy, but i dont see why not.

yes - you can use debian repositories, but i reccommend that you do not. it always caused me problems, and after bumbling around with it for a while, found out that , at least for me, there was no need anyway.

ubuntu and kubuntu , though very similar, are not the same as debian.

cool, dont forget to add multiverse and universe to your apt, they have much much stuff you will likely need if this is a desktop system.
