hi, im trying to install ubuntu 5.04, when i start installation, my keyboard freezes

my computer is an emachines T3095, it has an amd sempron 2000+, 512 mb of ram, i have 2 hard drives, one Seagate 80 GB hard drive, and another 10 GB hard drive, i dont know if that infromation will help people with helping me

i was able to install once before, then i installed a few other distros but then i tried installing ubuntu again and it wouldnt install

i hope someone can help

I had the exact same problem. It is most Likely a BIOS error. Go into your BIOS and fool around with settings having to do with the keyboard until something happens. For me it was USB keyboard support, I had to turn it off. Mandriva x86 also wouldn't let me install because I had access to the secondary hard drive allowed in BIOS (when there was only one hard drive). BIOS can be the source of alot of problems for Linux.

In case that doesn't work: did you change your keyboard? (IE, PS/2 to USB or USB to PS/2?) It could also be, quite simply, a scratched CD.

Thanks. I looked at my BIOS and I was able to get it working a little bit. I couldn't get Ubuntu working completely, so I downloaded Vector, I'm istalling it right now. The keyboard worked right off the bat. So far I'm happy with Vector.
