KDE 5 Professional needed

Hi!

I am running Kubuntu 16.04.2 and require some very specific info that I simply could not find on google.
I would like to know if there is some type of code or package that allows me to switch between the Opengl Interfaces GLX and EGL in the Compositor subsection of the system settings menu.

I found code to toggle between Composite on/off, but nowhere could I find an option that would allow me to exclusively switch between GLX and EGL.

Thank you very much!

Hi kallahan, and welcome to LQ.

Given the specificity of your question, if no-one answers here then perhaps you should post your query on the Kubuntu forum (https://www.kubuntuforums.net/forum.php) and/or the KDE Plasma forum (https://forum.kde.org/viewforum.php?f=289).

In either case, please report back - I for one would be interested to see what you find out.

I figured it out.
Quote:
KWIN_OPENGL_INTERFACE="egl" kwin_x11 --replace
KWIN_OPENGL_INTERFACE="glx" kwin_x11 --replace
But the real issue still stands, namely the nvidia driver's broken egl support.
Starting from nvidia-352 all the way to nvidia-381 every single iteration of the driver fails to support libEGL properly and hence cannot use EGL as an OpenGl interface in Plasma 5.

Do you have more info on that?
