Karmic - bash globbing gone .... ???

Anybody else notice things like "ls /media/disk/*" no longer works ?.
Hmmm . ....
Checked the shopts and bashrc/profiles, can't see anything obvious. Any ideas out there ?.
Was an online update, not a clean re-install - test box, can be rebuilt in need.

Hmmm, I just plugged in my flash drive to test this. In Ubuntu 9.04 it would be mounted under /media/disk. Now in Ubuntu 9.10 it is mounted under /media/441F-D7E3. But I can type "ls /media/441F-D7E3/* using TAB autocompletion and get a list of files on the drive.
I did a clean install though, not an upgrade.
