Smile Installing .ttf fonts in ubuntu

Hello people,

I am new on this forum and in Linux also.
Before I will start to ask stupid thing, I would like to apologize myself for any stupidity I can ask in the future. Please, be patient with me.
So here it is the first question:

In the list of fonts of the OpenOffice.org Writer I see the Georgian fonts like BPG_Chveulebrivi.ttf, but I can't activate them. Even when I choose them still the Latin letters appear on the screen.
Is there anybody who can explain me why I can't print those characters?
What should I do to solve this?
Thank you in advance
With best regards
Similani

After placing new ttf fonts in /usr/share/fonts or /home/{user}/.fonts, run "sudo fc-cache -fv".

The font cache is how, perhaps all, applications access fonts.
