Installing themes...

I have googled many times and find nothing. I have managed to install and am using gnomeshell instead of unity. But adding themes eludes me. I can download them all I want, I put them in the usr/share/themes folder but how do i activate them in the advanced settings menus. As of right now I have downloaded 2 or 3 themes and cannot activate any of them because they aren't on the drop down menus.

Using Ubuntu 12.04 and have added the Gnome Tweak Tool package.

Try putting them in your "hidden" files at ~/.themes. You may have to create the directory and ownership of it and all its content should be under your user name.
