Installed Ubuntu Server asking for User and Password
Hi guys, I just installed Ubuntu Server (the lastest version) and I don't remember setting up any user & password account. Now it is asking me to enter user name and password. Why is this, did I do anything wrong?? I'm kind of confused.
I'm sorry not to have the solution, but I do know a lot of Ubuntu desktop users have been complaining about having to supply passwords in their graphic logins since the latest kernel update. I imagine a fix is in the works, whatever the source of the problem. If it's a kernel problem, I assume the fix will solve your problem, too. I hope so.
The thing is I did not forget my password. The problem was I did not set a user name or password during installation. I was never asked to set up a user and/or password. But I figured it out already. I used the default root account with the default password.
Thanks for the tip, it will be useful when I really forget my password.
I had the same problem, but I got it to work. Trying all the usernames and passwords related to ubuntu. Like ubuntu and demo, I can't remember what I used though... Sorry.
