I want to use my headset, not my SB Audity sound card

Using the new Ubuntu 8.04. I have a SB Audigy sound card hooked up to my speakers. I also am using a Microsoft LX headset w/ mic. I want to use the headset, not the SB audigy card. I went to System -> Preferences -> Sound and changed it to my USB Audio Headset. The tests work fine, but Firefox and Steam still uses my SB Audigy w/ speakers, not the headset. Strangely G-Streamer plays my music on my USB Audio headset. What the heck is going on?
