I want to make a game folder
I have just installed Ubuntu 12.04. It seems to be pretty nice but I have a quick question. Is there a way to make a folder and put all of the games in it? The games are scattered all over the place and I would like to consolidate them, if possible.

you "can"
but it is going to be A LOT of EXTRA work
most linux programs will auto add a ".desktop" file to /usr/share/applications
and put the program in/usr/bin
you will HAVE TO MANUALLY add EVERY NEW /bin (ie. /opt/games/spaceinvaders/bin) folder to the system $PATH
and some of the new /opt/games/spaceinvaders/share,/opt/games/spaceinvaders/lib,/opt/games/spaceinvaders/lib/pkgconfig
the last one will be "fun"
then manually copy the desktop file to the correct location
then do this FOR EVERY PROGRAM

Thanks for the replies...
After a little more reading and investigation I discovered the "Filter" which does the job very nicely. I'll read a lot more before I post again.
Have a really nice day.
