I need some advice for an audio/video capture system.

I am a member of Thomas Jefferson Unitarian Church, and we are building a computer to run our mics and speakers through. We currently have a tape deck, which we record the sermons on and upload them to iTunes as a podcast. We offer this service for our members who may be traveling, or unable to get to Sunday service for whatever reason.

The core components are:
ASUS M4A89GTD PRO/USB3
ASUS Xonar Essense STX
ASUS EAH5450 Silent
Ubuntu Studio 64bit w/RT Kernel

I happened to have 1G of Kingston value RAM that was on the QVL.
Playback is good, but when I test the recording and play it back it stutters.

I suspect that I need to add more RAM to the system to fix the stutter, but I do not know exactly how much we need or what speed, CAS, ect.
Also, any tweaks would be appreciated.
We plan to use either Audacity or Audacious for the recording, but it's open for suggestions if there is a better application.

Sometime in the future, we plan to add a projector to the system. I would like to plan for this as well.

Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thanks!

open a termial or console and type alsamixer push F4 you will use your left right up and down keys and enter button select your inputs the turn up the captures turn up your mics and mic boost then push F5 and turn up the volume. hey it works. if you are using pulse audio it just reads alsa.ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture) Not bad for a Mennonite
