I can't install or run the Live CD of any version of Ubuntu...
I tried version 7.04, 6.10, and 5.10. For each of them [I made SURE I had chosen the right hardware version for the CD] it would get to the boot screen, I would press "boot," and a little blinking line would appear in the left-hand corner of my screen. It stays like that until my computer [a Compaq Presario laptop] hibernates.
Any help? Similar issues?
I want to try out Ubuntu - give me some tips if you can!
Had ubuntu 7.04 on two systems installed with no problem. A compaq presario 1247 400mhz and and AMD 1.2gighz desktop. But the newest of the systems hangs on 3 or 4 drivers, the nvidia 6800gs hangs, via8237, onboard gigabit controller hung, and don't remember the last one, gave up with the fourth hang appeared.
Compaq Presario V6211 - Same Problem - Did you resolve yours?
Dear all,
I got a new Compaq Presario V6211 laptop which has
* AMD Turion 64X2 1.6GHz
* Video adapter NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 6150
* Preloaded Vista Home Basic Version
I tried to install Ubuntu 7.04 64bit, 6.06 64bit, 6.06 32bit, Kubuntu 6.06 32bit
Bit I encountered the same following problems in all:
* It has got stuck while loading.Just after hardware check it hangs, doesn't proceed ahead.
* It is just throwing a blank screen.
I think this might be a problem due to my graphics card, but not sure. Because when I tried GParted Live CD, I had to go in after doing Forcevideo --> VESA --> 800x600
Can some one Please help...
Because I couldn't find any help from any other web online...
I'm desperate to make my Vista Box into a Tux Box...

Strange poll to take in the Ubuntu forum. The poll misses a box for "haven't tried it" which would probably match the majority of viewers in this forum.
