I can`t install ubuntu on my notebook


Hello, sorry for my inglish.
i have install cd with ubuntu v5.10
and notebook with following characteristic:
Video: ATI Mobility Radeon X700 256 Mb
Ram: 512 DDR
CPU: Intel Pentium M (Dothan) 1.73 Ghz Intel 915 PM

firm-producer of notebook: ACER


So, i insert install CD and that is what i see now

Press F1 for the help index, or ENTER to boot:
ok i do that
Loading /install/vmlinuz...........
Loading /install/initrd.gz.........................
Ready.
Uncompressing Linux... Ok, booting the kernel.


finish. On that moment installation have no more progress.
all? what i can do - watсh how equally is blinking spire.

One more thing, i am beginner in linux systems, that is why answer as for dunce.

try adding "noapic nolapic" to the boot options. If those two do not work, since you have an ATI card also add VGA=771, but only if you have to, I hope this helps!

Have u checked the disc intergrity? perhpas it is corrupt during downloading (check MD5SUM, K3B does this by default when burning to disc), or writing (check integrity before installing).

Make sure "detect PNP devices" is disabled in the bios.
