How to use a wireless card with Ubuntu using Ndiswrapper

Ok I installed ndiswrapper

and then I installed the windows driver

in then used the command ndiswrapper -l

the driver is listed as present and also the hardware.

I also ran the command sudo ndiswrapper -m

and it was done successfully.

Now I want to know how I get the card to connect to the internet?

I downloaded the knetwork manager and tried to see if it detects the card once I take out the ethernet cable but it doesnt happen.

I also tried going to the administration--> networking

Anyways I just need for this card to work, and I need your assistance.

I am new at using Ubuntu, I emigrated from SUSE 10.2 only a few hours ago.

Hi.

What is the name of that card ?
Can you scan for networks with wlassistant or by calling iwlist wlan0 scan .
If you can scan your wireless card works.
Edit /etc/network/interfaces and put these lines:
auto wlan0
iface wlan0 inet dhcp
wireless-essid <wireless acces point name>
wireless-key < wireless key or off >
wireless-ap < wireless access point MAC address >
and restart or call dhclient wlan0 .

Maybe your card has different name ( not wlan0 ) like eth0 , eth1 , eth2 and so on.

Well I resolved the problem myself.

Here is how I did it.

I installed ndiswrapper version 1.8
and also ndiswrapper util 1.8

I then went through the whole procedure of installing the windows drivers

After that was said and done,

After that I took the wireless card out of the slot and then rebooted the computer.

Once the computer rebooted I re-insterted the card into the slot and the card worked.

by the way my card was a Linksys wpc54GS ver 2 with speedboost.
