How to make a wireless router work?

I have a netgear WGR614 wireless router I would like to use on my ubuntu dapper, and wonder if this is possible? Have tried to search the web for tips and tricks, but no luck. I've been to several ubuntuforums, guides for dapper etc. My idea was to connect it to my cable routermodem, and thought this would be easy, but now way! When I go to 'system-admin-network', I thought I could 'do something there' (as adding a wireless router for example), but I'm stuck. iwconfig gives 'no wireless extensions' (surprise..).

Any idea how to make this work?

I think you're a bit confused. A wireless router is NOT a wireless adapter for your computer. Ubuntu has no control over the router. You can't "install" a wireless router to your machine. It actually is easy to setup a wireless router to the cable modem though (make sure the cable modem is not a router also, or you'll need to do something a bit different). All you do is plug the ethernet cable from your cable modem into the WAN port (cable/dsl modem port) and your computer into one of the other four ports. Your Ubuntu machine should get a new ethernet address. The router probably has a configuration page, something like http://192.168.1.1. Look at your IP address of the Ubuntu box (for example 192.168.100.2) and copy that to firefox (http://192.168.100.1) changing the last number to a "1".

Here's the support page, select the appropriate version you have and download the installation manual.
