How to install wxWidgets on linux (e.g. Ubuntu)

Dear all:

I just downloaded wxWidgets 2.6.1 source for the use in my new project. Can anybody here help me with an installation instruction on linux (e.g. Ubuntu)? After make install command, what should I do to set up the library path on my desktop?

Thank you very much in advance!
