Question how to install an older kernel?

Hi guys,

Coming from Gentoo, I am at a bit of a loss on:

How to install an older kernel that isn't in the repository any more (2.6.24-4-generic or 2.6.25-generic)

Code:
$ sudo apt-get install linux-image-2.6.24-4-generic -sV
[sudo] password for xxx:
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Couldn't find package linux-image-2.6.24-4-generic
What do I have to install to be able to reconfigure the kernel to my liking?

Any pointers to documentation are of course welcome

Thanks.

It's a bit dated, but being from Gentoo, you should be able to see past the /bin/dash stuff. Basically, you do everything like a non-Debian based system, then use make-kpkg to generate a *.deb file for installation by dpkg.
