As far as I know the last supported version is <anthing>Ubuntu 14.04.
("deb http://repo.acestream.org/ubuntu/ trusty main")

I gave everything trying to install it on the latest Gentoo and Ubuntu distros, but I miserably failed: there is a certain package which had major changes, and that breaks everything. I tried modifying the acestream sources, but in the end it still did not work.

Therefore, I recommend you to install a VM of <any>Ubuntu 14.04 (for example http://xubuntu.org/getxubuntu/ LTS 14.04) and potentially watch stuff using VNC if you have the VM running without display.
(i3-CPUs might not manage that. i5 and i7 CPUs will be alright)
