How do you use gparted from the Ubuntu 8.10 live CD to restore partitions?

I got an Ubuntu 8.10 live CD to try out on my Dell Inspiron 5000 laptop with a windows 98 OS. I was having problems getting my modem working and don't have time to deal with it so I wanted to restore my windows 98 operating system. The Ubuntu CD partitioned my hard drive so my windows os has a 3GB partition and the other 11 gb are inaccessible. I want to expand the windows partition to access the other 11 gb. I tried using gparted using the live Ubuntu CD but I couldn't expand my windows partition nor delete the 11 gb partition. Can someone offer help with how to do this? Thanks!

Some useful information would go a long way to getting you assistance.
Presumably you installed Ubuntu from the CD, and didn't just run it as a liveCD. What do you mean by "inaccessible" - from Win98 or Ubuntu liveCD. Do you get any messages. What happens (messges ?) when you try to delete/resize from gparted.
Post the output from "mount" command issued from a terminal using the liveCD.

You're right. I had initially used the live CD to create a dual boot system then deleted ubuntu. Ubuntu had reduced the disk space for windows to 3 gb and used up 11 gb. I tried using g-parted to expand windows but it wouldn't work. Since I posted I fixed the problem by using g-parted and formatting the space as fat 32 then my windows boot disk was able to recognize and delete it. I then reinstalled windows. Thank you for your offer to help. I will be trying out ubuntu again and I know I will need more help in the future!
