Get a subsrciption to Transgaming's Cedega, and you won't have to give up all your games... (mainly just the M$ ones). It's only $15 for like 3 mos. and you don't have to renew as long as your satisfied with the version of Cedega you are running.

Yah, Cedega is nice.

It ran Star Wars Battlefront about 3x faster than it ran under Windows.

The only issue was that I was totally incapable to correctly configuring it. I gave it up after a little while because I was having absolutely no luck getting it to work. However, I KNOW that it does work, I just wasn't skilled enough to get it to work back when I tried it. I should probably re-visit it and see if what I've learned since then will enable me to get it working... An interesting concept...

I was disappointed because kubuntu was waaayyy too easy, although I am using it as a desktop. I have slackware as a server how ever. You shouldn't have any problems with a server based distro, less apps and generally just simpiler

If I was going to ask such a question, I would post it in a distro neutral forum so that you can get opinions from non Ubuntu users. Anyway my personal opinion is that its a good distro for people getting started with Linux although I feel its a bit hyped up and lacks some features that are in other distros. Kubuntu seems to be doing a good job of polishing up KDE and makking some very good default settings.

Gotta say i think Ubuntu is the slickest distro i have used in many ways. Out of the box the lack of being to able su to root is a bit annoying (as i like the power!.. hehehe) but sudo works well.
On my Insprion 700m laptop it picked up all my hardware with absolutely no changes needed (in dapper drake)..
Have used many linux distros and unix flavours and i cant get enough of Ubuntu.

Enjoy using su again.

(thought, now, root has a password)
