How do I set my Ubuntu 8.04 dial-up serial modem to connect automatically?

OK so I'm old and I forget things. I had to get a new hard drive put into my computer and I had re-installed my Ubuntu 8.04 os that uses an external serial modem. Years ago I clicked the automatic connect for the modem when it is turned; on but for the life of me, I can not remember how I did that, or just where the application is! Can someone help me with this, please? Thank You!

Ubuntu 8.04 is no longer supported. You should really update to a newer (supported) version of Ubuntu or maybe even try another distro that is supported with a better kernel and security features.
