Edit your /etc/apt/sources.list and then apt-get install the proper kernel.

thanks pljvaldez,

I think I followed those instructions but I still get the following error.

apt-get install-stable

Gave me an error saying
E: Invalid operation install-stable

apt-get source kernel-image-2.6.12-3-multimedia-386

gave the following

Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree... Done
W: Couldn't stat source package list http://ftp.uk.debian.org sarge/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/ftp.uk.debian.org_debian_dists_sarge_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 No such file or directory)
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Unable to find a source package for kernel-image-2.6.12-i386-multimedia

So I ran

apt-get update

and I got this at the end.

W: GPG error: http://ftp.uk.debian.org sarge Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY F1D53D8C4F368D5D
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems

Am I overlooking something really simple?

Did you follow the instructions and add the following two lines to /etc/apt/sources.list?
Code:
# A/DeMuDi stable
 deb http://demudi.agnula.org/packages/demudi stable main

# A/DeMuDi sources
 deb-src http://demudi.agnula.org/packages/custom custom main
Then you should apt-get update.

Then you should apt-get kernel-image-2.6.12-3-multimedia-<Type>, where <Type> might be 386, 586tsc, 686, k6, k7 depending on what type of processor you have (if it's pentium, then probably 686).

I had the second web address commented out.

Ok I uncmmented it and did

apt-get update

I got the following result.

Err http://demudi.agnula.org custom/main Sources
404 Not Found
Fetched 271kB in 3s (87.8kB/s)
Failed to fetch http://demudi.agnula.org/packages/cu...rce/Sources.gz 404 Not Found
Reading package lists... Done
W: GPG error: http://ftp.uk.debian.org sarge Release: The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY F1D53D8C4F368D5D
W: You may want to run apt-get update to correct these problems
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

Do I need some kinf of public Key? If so how do I get it?

Concerning
apt-get kernel-image-2.6.12-3-multimedia-<Type>

What do you think I should put in for <Type> ?
I have an AMD64 Athlon CPU running 32 bit software.

I assume it is 386 but I am not sure and do not wish to mess my system up.

Thanks for you help.
