how do I disconnect from the internet?

Hello. Just installed Kubuntu 7.10.

I installed my ADSL modem with instructions found here

http://linux-usb.sourceforge.net/Spe...ntu/index.html

Working fine. Somehow it connects at boot, some other time the connection fails and I have to type manually

sudo pppd call speedtch

and it connects.

Fine.

HOW CAN I DISCONNECT?

KNetDockApp just monitors the traffic, but I can't find a way to toggle some command.

KNetworkManager tells me that I don't have any recognizable device (while I am actually online). Actually. if it looks for Net Card it is correct, I have none. OI just have an ADSL USB modem.

On my old Mandriva I had a command like "ifdown ppp0". And here?

Thank you very much.

Hi,

Code:
sudo /sbin/ifdown ppp0
will shut down your PPP connection.
Code:
sudo /sbin/ifup ppp0
will bring it back up. To do it using a GUI (KDE in your case) install the kppp package, or kppp-kde4 if you have KDE4 (I don't know which KDE version Gutsy comes with).

zeus@zeus-Eddye:~$ sudo /sbin/ifdown ppp0
[sudo] password for zeus:
/sbin/ifdown: interface ppp0 not configured

I swear that at this moment I am online with interface ppp0!

However: I managed to figure out workarounds to the problem. To disconnect I type

sudo killall pppd

A bit brutal, it seems to me, but it works.

To connect again I type

sudo pppd call speedtch

Thanks all the same.
