How can I get an updated libcgi-perl package built that runs on hardy?
I am a developer with limited access to a test host. I need to install some perl dependencies on this host. My sysadmin can install any I need if I provide him with debian packages. Half the dependencies have debian packages of sufficient version. Another half I was able to make packages using dh-make-perl.
The problem:
libcgi-perl, the debian package on the version of ubuntu used (hardy) is not sufficient. So like the others I tried to make a package using dh-make-perl. dh-make-perl complains that CGI is core and fails.
Upgrading to a new ubuntu version is not an option at this point, and in my experience trying to use one of the newer ubuntu packages on hardy will require tracking down yet more deps.
I was able to use the cpan shell by hand to install the upgrade and verify it works, however this is not an acceptable solution as we use puppet to manage packages.
